Welcome to SUCCESSful Readers. We are slowly beginning to figure out what books work well for reading aloud as a pair or in a small group and we are eager to share our discoveries. We are also looking for more good books to read together and are hoping to develop a nice list that will appeal to young adolescents from all walks of life.
If you choose to post a review (or add comments to one that's already there), please tell us a little about the student(s) and the volunteer in order to help identify whether the selection might appeal to the reader of the review. Share a little about your interests, where you live, and what type of students you think might enjoy the selection. Consider including information on what worked for you; did you read during the week and then discuss what you'd read as you met or did you read the selection when you met together?

SUCCESSful Readers is a blog designed for volunteer tutors or mentors and their middle school students to recommend books and other print or internet articles they've read together. Although the blog was created for the SUCCESS in the Middle program in Wichita, Kansas, we welcome contributions from middle school or junior high students and their tutors/mentors throughout the English-speaking world.
